I’m Laura, a travel designer and calligrapher who takes the stress out of planning and connects you to the heart of a destination.

I was born and raised in Miami to Cuban parents and grandparents. We spoke Spanish at home, and I started traveling young, visiting family in the Dominican Republic and taking many trips to Spain. Even our trips that weren't about family were about immersion. We stayed in cabins in North Carolina and New Hampshire, an adobe home in Santa Fe, and a villa in Tuscany. I learned early that where you stay and how you spend your days shape how well you get to know a place.

That curiosity followed me everywhere. The summer before my senior year of high school, I studied Spanish and history at the University of Salamanca. In college, I spent a semester in Rome studying art history, with classes held inside museums and the Vatican instead of in front of a projector. Later I spent a year teaching English in northern Thailand, and in graduate school I spent a summer in South Africa doing education research.

Every time I lived abroad, I used it as a home base to explore, and I've now been to more than 40 countries. But my favorite memories aren't the landmarks. They're the times I got to know the people and culture of a place.

These days I'm based in Brooklyn, NY, and I'm still the one who plans every friend and family trip. I've saved every hotel, restaurant, café, and bar I've loved, and I've built relationships with people who live in the places I visit. Those notes and friendships are the foundation of what I do for clients.
